Patient Story

TN  United States
female
Living with ALL for 6 years, 8 months
Age: 17

My niece was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on January 14th 2004. She spent one month in Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and underwent many spinal taps, bone marrow transfusions and blood transfusions. If it were not for the great people at Vanderbilt I would not have my niece. She is the only baby in the family and when we found out her diagnosis, it hit everyone like a rock. She has always been healthy and active so it shocked us that she would be sick.

She has 3 weeks left of intensive chemo and then she will be on maintenance therapy. She is back into cheerleading and just last week we held a blood drive in her honor and we got 57 people to come out to give blood. Which just shows you how many people really care.
