Jeffrey's personalized image Jeffrey Martin
long beach, CA  United States
male
Living with AML for 3 years, 5 months
Age: 16

Jeffrey is currently an 8th grader in middle school waiting graduation to start high school in the fall. Jeffrey was diagnosed with AML Leukemia April 4, 2007. After 9 months of chemotherapy and 170 days in the hospital he is remission and living a life of a teenage boy.

Jeffrey underwent chemotherapy and many painful tests, procedures, sicknesses, infections and gave up sports, school, skateboarding and more. It was a difficult time and he was very brave throughout it all. He was given high doses of chemo which often made him quite sick and of course lost all his hair. However, Jeffrey never complained and was so strong and seemed to have a smile on his face when the rest of the family and friends could barely keep their chin up. Jeffrey was given many blood and platelet transfusions, many from direct donors. Even when at the end of chemo treatment he came down with pneumonia, he did not let that get him down. Even though he was feeling weak and sick, he continued to smile and joke with all the nurses. (He is a very big flirt).

In January, the "Make a Wish foundation" sent Jeffrey and his entire family to Disneyworld in Florida for a week. They had the most wonderful time ever. Jeffrey continues to see his oncologist monthly. One would never know this young man has been so ill. Jeffrey's family received many prayers and support and the family truly believes because of all the kind thoughts and prayers, this is the reason Jeffrey is doing so well. Jeffrey is on a MISSION TO STAY IN REMISSION. You go Jeffrey....Please visit his website at www.SupportJeffreyM.FamilyPlanit.com
